Shai Zarchi

Shai Zarchi is an Israeli rabbi, one of the founders of the Nigun Halev community, and one of its spiritual leaders from its establishment in 2000 until today.


He was ordained as a rabbi at the Israeli Rabbinical Seminary (Beit Midrash for Israeli Rabbinate) in Elul 5776 (2016).


Shai is among the founders of the Midrasha for Israeli Judaism at Oranim College (1989). He founded and headed the Beit Midrash “Nigun” for learning and creativity, designed for joint leadership of religious and secular participants (1996).
He also founded and managed Beit Midrash “Tehuda” for Jewish leadership (as part of the “Kolot” organization, 2000).


Shai is co-editor of the books:

  • “Proposal for Order – Haggadah for Passover” (2002)

  • “Days of Man – Jewish Life-Cycle Rituals” (2007), published by Yedioth Ahronoth.

He is co-founder and co-director of the Beit Midrash for Israeli Rabbinate, established by Oranim College and the Shalom Hartman Institute (2014).
Shai received the Liba’er Prize for promoting religious tolerance in Israel (2000).
